The mission of Lafayette College Admissions is to honor as many scheduled appointments as possible while keeping in mind the safety of staff, students and visitors during inclement weather and other emergencies affecting the campus. Safety of the campus for our visitors will be determined by the Dean of Admissions in conjunction with the Visitation Team, staff members on campus and the college’s Incident Response Team.
Visiting students and their families are encouraged to use good judgement and put safety first when deciding whether to travel in inclement weather. If a student cancels an interview due to inclement weather in the student’s travel corridor or in the College’s ecosystem, it will not reflect negatively on the student’s application, as long as the student notifies the Admissions department within 24 hours of the interview of the reason for cancellation. If the College cancels the interview due to inclement weather, it will not reflect negatively on the student’s application. Lafayette Admissions cannot guarantee a rescheduled interview if an interview is cancelled due to inclement weather or an emergency.

If the college closes early due to inclement weather or other emergency, we encourage visitors to leave campus so that they can travel safely and avoid dangerous roadways on the trip home.
